Space Conference 2025

About the conference

The Space Conference 2025 is an international conference bringing together industry experts, startups, scale-ups, policymakers, researchers, and university students to explore the future of space technology and satellite communication.

Taking place in Aalborg, Denmark – a European hub for satellite innovation - the conference highlights the region’s unique strengths in nanosatellites, communication systems, and cutting-edge space research.

The conference is organized by Aalborg University in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Higher Education and Science, as part of Denmark’s EU Presidency in second half of 2025. Together, we’re celebrating and advancing European leadership in space with focus on sustainability, autonomy and competitiveness.

Did you know?

Aalborg is home to over 15 space- and satellite-related companies including a top-ranked engineering university offering a range of space-focused programs and research facilities – all within a 25 km radius.  This concentrated ecosystem positions Northern Denmark as one of the world’s leading hubs for space innovation and commercialization.

With a thriving ecosystem, Aalborg and the Northern Jutland region in Denmark have emerged as a leading Northern European hub for satellite communication and space-related technologies. With a strong foundation in engineering, innovation, and digital development, the area has become a center of excellence for research, development, and collaboration in the space industry.

At the heart of this ecosystem Aalborg University is renowned for its cutting-edge research in satellite systems, communication technologies, and small satellite development.

Why Space Matters: Innovation, Collaboration, and Global Opportunity

"The international space industry is undergoing rapid development. The cost of space technology has been drastically reduced, and the number of satellites is growing significantly. Already today, tens of thousands of satellites are orbiting the Earth. These new satellites open up entirely new opportunities to observe the Earth, the oceans, the weather, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change, traffic, and security.
In addition, space technology and research can be applied in numerous other areas to create innovative products, for example, in the medical industry.

Collaboration between universities and businesses is absolutely essential for the development of the Danish space industry. Through close partnerships, we can ensure that new scientific research is applied and transformed into innovative solutions and products that strengthen the business sector. Space Conference 2025 at Aalborg University provides an excellent platform for exactly that.

The conference offers a unique opportunity to promote collaboration between universities and businesses to exchange ideas and expertise. Through cooperation and inspiration from other sectors, Danish companies can develop competitive technologies that not only enhance our national space capabilities but also position Denmark as an innovative player on the global stage.

Space Conference 2025 is also an important part of the Danish EU presidency program, which will give Denmark a strong opportunity to influence the European space policy that is set to undergo significant changes in the near future."

Let’s Shape the Future of Space Together

The Space Conference 2025 seeks to highlight the future generation of space professionals by welcoming a separate Youth Space Conference organized by House of Natural Sciences.

The Youth Space Conference

On October the 20th 2025 Aalborg University, House of Natural Sciences and ESERO Denmark will host the Youth Space Conference for Danish secondary school students. The event aims to foster interest in science, technology and space by involving students in industry-cases. Highlights include keynote speakers, a panel discussion, and a student poster session showcasing collaborative projects. Set in Aalborg’s dynamic space-tech environment, the conference serves as a platform linking education with European space policy, innovation, and the strategic goals outlined in ESA and the Draghi report.

The students poster session is available at the lower foyer throughout the Space Conference and Monday at 12.15 you can meet the students .

The Space Conference 2025 is more than just a conference – it’s a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and inspiration across sectors and borders. We can’t wait to welcome you to Aalborg and share Denmark’s and Europe’s space ambitions with the world.
